Challenge the Greats – the results!

Challenge the greats

On July 28–30, the Fieldsports team hosted three clay shooting competitions at The Game Fair at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. The Lord James Percy Grouse Challenge, the Simon Ward High Pheasant Challenge, and the new and exciting George Digweed Pigeon Challenge, proved hugely popular.

Lord James, George and Simon set their scores in front of a sizeable audience on the morning of the first day of the fair. Fieldsports game shooting guru Simon Ward kick-started proceedings with an impressive 19/20 on the High Pheasant Challenge, whilst the scores to beat on the Lord James Percy Grouse Challenge and George Digweed Pigeon Challenge were 16/20 and 18/20 respectively. Then it was up to members of The Game Fair-going public to try and match or better them – the high Gun for each challenge on each day winning a fantastic bundle of prizes.Simon Ward

John Heagren and Chris ChilderhouseOver the course of the three days, two shoot-offs were required to determine a winner in the event of joint high scores. On Saturday, Cheryl Hall pipped Henry Arnold in the shoot-off for high Gun on the Grouse Challenge, whilst John Heagren and Chris Childerhouse went head to head for the top spot on the Pigeon Challenge on Sunday – which was won by Chris with an outstanding score of 19.
